If you are studying at Saarland University and have opted for a medical degree course, you will probably end up somewhere in Homburg. To complete our series of Saarland guides, we can’t forget to include an article about the gastronomic offerings of the district town in the east of Saarland.
From pizza to sushi or kebab, Homburg has a good restaurant for all tastes. This blog post is intended to present what the authors consider to be the best places to eat.
PIZZA
First of all, we start our culinary journey in Italy. At the „heavenly Italian“ Ristorante Pizzeria Oh!lio, fans of southern European cuisine will find everything their heart desires. Good pizza, pasta and a good wine are a matter of course at Oh!lio. The only downside to this restaurant could be the somewhat high prices, but these are justified by the extremely good quality.

SUSHI
If you’re not so keen on Italian cuisine and would rather try sushi and sake than pizza and vino, you’ll find the „home of sushi“ at Yedo Restaurant less than 100 meters away. In addition to excellent makis, sashimis and crunchy rolls, you can try classic Asian dishes here and „eat like the emperor in old Tokyo“. You are sure to feel at home in the authentically decorated restaurant.

BURGER
Of course, Homburg also has a good restaurant for top-quality home-made burgers. Kayas Burger & Bar has what I think are the best burgers in the area. While vegetarian options are a matter of course with pizza and sushi, this is more of an exception with burgers. But not at Kayas, where every classic is also available in a veggie version. Another special feature is the burger all-you-can-eat every Wednesday. On this evening, you can enjoy the entire burger menu for a flat rate. Add to that a delicious cocktail from the bar and a tiring day of studying is saved.

KEBAP
For all those who have not yet discovered their passion with this international selection, there is still the best kebab in town at Akifs Bistro in Saarbrücker Straße. The finest kebab with fresh sauce is served here in the best crispy bread, so that every fan of this culinary creation will be delighted.

Everything else
And if you’re still hungry, you can still enjoy good food at Cash on Christian-Weber-Platz or good traditional German cuisine at Gasthaus Homburger Hof on Rondell. If you want to try Saarland brewing specialties, you’ll find what you’re looking for at the Brauhaus im Talzentrum, and if you’re interested in the best Yugoslavian cuisine at Mediterraneo on Enklerplatz. And that’s not all! Homburg is not only a city for students but also for fans of culinary delights. Everyone will find what they’re looking for in the district town of Homburg, but it’s best to try everything out bit by bit!
